R-EF GmbH is a research oriented company developing and producing software engines for existing and future IT applications. The EF in “R-EF” stands for “Development and Research” - in that order. Since the main goal of research is to identify, understand, and solve problems, why not deal first with the problems raised by our clients, partners, and our own development? Great things can be discovered anywhere, if only one digs deep enough.

The R-EF website is partitioned in six main parts, as shown on the navigation ‘hexacube’ © on the left. This hexagonal structure is a reminder of R-EF’s two actual inventions, the “Tags for moving objects”, and the “Secure Paper” (patents pending).

Our Company site informs you about who we are, what is our business model, how you can invest on R-EF projects and their spin-offs, and how you can become our partner. Furthermore, you can read our founder blogs (Anz\"atze") under “The Si-villized Republic” entry.

The Research site contains several main research areas in which we are actually involved. These are centered around ‘pragmatic’ machine learning theory, also co-notated as ‘classification’ and some new data structures/algorithms for associative memory. Next to come are some results in automated data extraction, near optimal error correcting codes, and secure computing. This site also contains the R-EF Journal, where we publish results of public interest. The first article is about the “Storage Capacity of Visual Reference Tags”.
The Technology site explains some of the already available R-EF technologies. These contain classification, search, database direct access, process control, and visualization software engines. You can also download white papers about the product features and application domain.

Recent and current Projects are listed here. These include some Reference projects we developed in the past, like the “Seeing Scales” project with Bizerba, some new developed projects like the “Reference Tags for Moving Objects” and “Secure Paper”, as well as other projects under development. Investors or potential partners interested in joining us can contact R-EF here.

The Products site describes our actual (and soon available) products. R-EF products consist of SEDK’s (software engine developer’s kits) with a ‘universal’ API and wrapping a C++ library. The universal API uses only input and output strings providing the engine functionalities and can be easily adapted to any programming language.

This site will be updated and extended regularly, while keeping constant its basic structure. We are not requiring you to identify yourself in order to download papers, software, or other content from it. However, we do require that certain R-EF content be linked on your side to its original URL. We also ask you to refer to any of this material via its original link on this site. The parts denoted by © are copyright of R-EF, please contact us if you wish to use them. The design is the work of Peter Rujan at PR-IMA Expose (www.prima-expose.de).
